Much of what we know works comes from experiments and trying different things within the platform.
However, there are a few basics that we know are important when it comes to ranking:
1. Fill In All of Your Information
It should go without saying, but the more information you include on your listing, the better optimized that listing is for readers; thus, making your listing superior to those not fully completed.
Sound familiar yet? Yep, it’s just like Google. Reader experience matters.
2. Add Photos & Video
Photo and video also make for a better page, so it seems that precedence is given to pages that include lots of photos.
This includes both photos that you have uploaded as well as photos that reviewers have uploaded, so encourage those posts!
3. Add Your Online Ordering Platform
Does your business offer online ordering through providers like our DoorDash or Uber Eats? Add your ordering url to your site via the User Dashboard.
Taking Your SEO to the Next Level
Once you’ve got the basics down and a few great reviews under your belt, go after your competition and take things up a notch!
Here are a few different ways you can start to really be strategic in your Bama Eats SEO efforts:
4. Add (Keywords) Tags
Make it easy for customers to find your listing.
You don’t have as much content to work with as say, a blog post, so make sure that you are truly getting across the information that you want to be known for. Think of a few key phrases that you would want to pop-up for when people search, and then make sure your content accurately reflects those keywords. ( ex: great for date night, bbq in Montgomery, great vibes)
5. Consider Your Categories
One of the biggest mistakes we see is including in as many categories as possible because it could maybe-in-a-roundabout-way-sometime-in-the-future related to them.
Irrelevant categories negatively impact your listing, so choose only the categories that apply to your business.
6. Enable Appointments
If your business takes appointments, be sure to enable the appointments feature in your User Dashboard.
7. Encourage Reviews
As a business, you can encourage people to visit your business and then leave reviews by offering special promotions. They check in, leave a review about their experience, and they get rewarded with a coupon.
